Sodium tungstate

Sodium tungstate (CAS 13472-45-2), also sold as sodium wolframate, is an inorganic tungsten salt used industrially as a corrosion inhibitor and catalyst precursor.

Where is Sodium tungstate used?

• Textile and leather processing: flame retardant and weighting agent applied to fabric and hide treatments
• Pharmaceutical and fine chemicals: catalyst or catalyst precursor in oxidation reactions, particularly peroxide-based synthesis routes
• Mining and metallurgy: starting material for tungsten metal, tungsten carbide and downstream alloy intermediates
• Paper: flame retardant additive that improves density and opacity of specialty paper grades
• It delivers controlled tungsten chemistry where a water-soluble tungsten source is required at scale.
