Description

Zinc glycinate (CAS 14281-83-5), also supplied as zinc bisglycinate, is an amino acid-chelated zinc mineral in which zinc is coordinated with glycine for enhanced bioavailability compared to inorganic zinc salts.

It is used across nutraceutical, feed, and cosmetic manufacturing where stable, bioavailable zinc delivery is a formulation priority. In dietary supplements, it is the preferred zinc source for gastrointestinal tolerability.

Absorption efficiency makes it a key product differentiator in functional foods. Animal feed producers incorporate it as an organic trace mineral to support immune function and growth performance in livestock and aquaculture species.

In cosmetic and personal care formulations, it functions as a skin-conditioning active and mild preservative booster. It is commonly found in creams, serums, and anti-acne products to improve skin health.

Agricultural applications include foliar sprays and soil amendments where chelated zinc corrects micronutrient deficiencies. It performs more effectively than sulfate alternatives in various environmental conditions.

Zinc glycinate is supplied as a white to off-white powder. Standard grades include food-grade and feed-grade specifications, with some manufacturers offering USP or Ph. Eur.-aligned material.

Zinc content typically ranges from 20–30% in most commercial batches. Buyers should confirm the chelation ratio and elemental zinc assay when evaluating specific supplier technical data sheets.
