Description

Laureth-7 citrate (CAS 161756-30-5), also marketed as Plantapon LC 7, is a mild, citrate-esterified ethoxylated lauryl alcohol surfactant used as an emulsifier and wetting agent across personal care and industrial cleaning formulations. It combines surfactant and acidifying functionality in a single ingredient, reducing the need for separate pH-adjustment additives. In rinse-off and leave-on cosmetic formulations, it functions as a primary or co-emulsifier.

This ingredient helps stabilize oil-in-water systems in lotions, shampoos, and conditioners. Home care and industrial cleaning products use it to improve substrate wetting and soil dispersion on hard surfaces, particularly in low-pH cleaning concentrates. In coatings and adhesive systems, it supports pigment and filler dispersion while improving substrate adhesion through surface tension reduction. Its dual surfactant-acid character also makes it suitable for acidic toilet bowl cleaners.

It is highly effective in descaling formulations where emulsification and pH control are needed simultaneously. Laureth-7 citrate is typically supplied as a liquid or viscous paste, depending on concentration and formulation. It is available in technical and cosmetic grades, with cosmetic-grade material conforming to standard personal care industry specifications. Packaging ranges from drums to IBC containers for bulk procurement.
