Cetyl laurate
Description
Cetyl laurate (CAS 20834-06-4), also known as palmityl laurate, is a fatty acid ester of cetyl alcohol and lauric acid used as an emollient, emulsifier, and texture modifier in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations.
It contributes slip, skin feel, and structural consistency to finished products without the heaviness associated with heavier wax esters. In skincare and color cosmetics, it functions as an emollient and spreading agent.
It is frequently utilized in creams, lotions, and foundations, improving skin feel and product payoff. Lip care formulations use it to adjust texture and provide a smooth, non-greasy finish in balms and glosses.
Pharmaceutical topical preparations rely on it as a carrier and plasticizer in ointment bases and transdermal delivery systems where controlled spreadability matters. It also acts as a co-emulsifier in oil-in-water systems.
This material helps stabilize emulsions across a range of viscosities. Cetyl laurate is supplied as a white to off-white solid or flake at ambient temperature, transitioning to a clear liquid when melted.
It is available in cosmetic-grade and pharmaceutical-grade specifications, with the latter typically meeting USP or Ph.Eur. standards for purity and identity. This ensures high quality for sensitive applications.
Bulk supply is standard in fiber drums or bags, with smaller packaging available for development and QA use. Our logistics network ensures timely delivery of high-purity esters for your manufacturing requirements.
