Zinc laurate
Description
Zinc laurate (CAS 2452-01-9), also known as zinc dilaurate, is a zinc soap derived from lauric acid used as a functional additive across rubber, plastics, and personal care manufacturing.
It acts as a lubricant, release agent, and surface modifier, reducing friction and improving processing behavior in solid-form applications. In rubber and tire compounding, it functions as an internal lubricant.
This additive serves as a mold release agent, reducing die swell and improving surface finish on extruded profiles. Plastics processors incorporate it into PVC and polyolefin formulations to reduce equipment wear.
It is also used to improve flow during extrusion or calendering. In personal care, it is used in pressed powder cosmetics and dry formulations to improve slip, binding, and texture uniformity.
Metalworking applications use it as a solid lubricant component in drawing compounds and stamping aids where oil-based lubricants are impractical. The material is supplied as a fine white powder.
It is available in technical grade for industrial processing applications, and in cosmetic-grade specifications for personal care formulators requiring tighter purity and particle size control.
Packaging typically ranges from multi-wall bags to bulk quantities depending on application volume. This versatile chemical ensures consistent performance across diverse manufacturing sectors and industrial processes.
