Decyldimethylamine oxide (CAS 2605-79-0), also known as capric dimethyl amine oxide, is an amphoteric surfactant that shifts between cationic and nonionic behavior depending on pH.
This dual character makes it effective across a broad range of formulated cleaning, foaming, and conditioning systems. In personal care, it boosts foam volume and stabilizes lather in shampoos.
It is frequently used in body washes and facial cleansers while improving the feel of the rinse. Industrial and institutional cleaning formulations use it to enhance detergency and support emulsification.
