Monosodium etidronate

Monosodium etidronate (CAS 29329-71-3), the monosodium salt form of HEDP, is a phosphonate-based chelating agent.

Where is Monosodium etidronate used?

• Personal care: sequesters calcium and magnesium ions that reduce surfactant performance and cause residue buildup in shampoos, cleansers and skin care products
• Water treatment: inhibits calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate scale in cooling towers, boilers and process water circuits
• Textile and paper processing: prevents metal-catalyzed degradation of bleaching baths and dye liquors
• Oil and gas: corrosion inhibitor and scale suppressant in injection water and pipeline systems
• It controls metal ion activity in formulations and process fluids, preventing scale formation, discoloration and corrosion.
