Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline
Description
Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline (CAS 41672-81-5), also known commercially as LIPACIDE DPHP, is a lipophilic derivative of hydroxyproline used in personal care formulations. It combines a fatty acid component with an amino acid to deliver moisturizing and stabilizing activity within oil-based systems. Formulators source it primarily as a skin-conditioning active.
In facial and body care emulsions, it functions as a humectant that supports moisture retention within the lipid phase of the formulation. It is incorporated into anti-aging creams and serums. Its antioxidant properties help protect formulation integrity and support skin barrier function. Hair care products such as conditioning treatments use it to deliver amino acid-derived benefits.
Its lipophilic character also suits it for anhydrous formats including balms, sticks, and oil serums where water-soluble actives cannot be used effectively in the manufacturing process. Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline is typically supplied as a waxy solid or powder suitable for incorporation into the oil phase of cosmetic formulations. It is available in cosmetic-grade specification.
This is the standard for personal care raw material procurement. Packaging is commonly offered in kilogram quantities for development-scale sourcing through to larger bulk formats for production.
