Dimethylamine-epichlorohydrin-ethylenediamine copolymer
Description
Dimethylamine-epichlorohydrin-ethylenediamine copolymer (CAS 42751-79-1) is a cationic polyelectrolyte used across water treatment and process industries to destabilize suspended particles and facilitate their removal.
Its quaternary amine functionality delivers a strong positive charge across a broad pH range, making it effective where consistent coagulation performance is required for industrial applications.
In municipal and industrial water treatment, it functions as a primary coagulant or coagulant aid, reducing turbidity and suspended solids load ahead of filtration or sedimentation stages.
Pulp and paper producers apply it for retention and drainage improvement on the wet end, helping fine fibers and fillers bind to the sheet rather than pass through the wire during production.
In textile processing, it supports dye fixation and effluent treatment, reducing color in discharge water to meet regulatory limits. Leather and tannery operations use it to coagulate protein-rich streams.
This copolymer is supplied as an aqueous solution, typically at concentrations ranging from 40% to 50% active content. Bulk liquid supply in IBC containers or tankers is the norm for buyers.
Technical grade is the standard commercial specification, with product performance characterized by charge density and molecular weight rather than specific pharmacopeial standards like USP or Ph.Eur.
The material is also evaluated against BP, EP, and ACS benchmarks when required for specific high-purity industrial processes or specialized chemical manufacturing applications.
