Description

Tripropylene glycol diacrylate, commonly abbreviated as TPGDA, is a difunctional acrylate monomer used as a reactive diluent and crosslinker in UV- and EB-curable systems. It reduces viscosity in formulations while contributing to the cured polymer network.

This chemical, identified by CAS 42978-66-5, offers formulators a balance between processing ease and final film performance. In UV-curable coatings and inks, it lowers formulation viscosity without the need for solvent addition.

This functionality enables faster cure speeds and cleaner processing on high-speed printing lines. Adhesive and sealant manufacturers incorporate it as a crosslinking monomer to improve cohesive strength and flexibility in various systems.

It is particularly effective in pressure-sensitive and structural adhesive systems. Electronics producers use it in conformal coatings and encapsulants where controlled crosslink density is critical to substrate adhesion and dielectric performance.

In plastics and polymer compounding, it functions as a reactive plasticizer that integrates into the polymer matrix during cure rather than migrating over time. This ensures long-term stability and performance in the finished product.

The product is supplied as a clear liquid, typically available in drum and IBC quantities for industrial buyers. It is predominantly offered in technical and industrial grades, with specifications aligned to monomer purity standards.

These standards are relevant to coatings and adhesives manufacturing. Some suppliers offer inhibited grades with controlled hydroquinone monomethyl ether levels to ensure storage stability during transport and long-term warehouse storage.
