Trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate
Description
Trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (CAS 3290-92-4), commonly identified as TMPTMA or by trade names such as Acryester TMP, is a trifunctional methacrylate monomer used as a crosslinking agent.
It is utilized in radiation-curable and peroxide-cured polymer systems. Its three reactive methacrylate groups enable rapid network formation, making it a standard building block in high-performance formulations.
In UV- and EB-curable coatings, TMPTMA functions as a reactive diluent and crosslinker, improving hardness, chemical resistance, and cure speed in wood, plastic, and metal finishes.
Rubber and tire compounders use it as a co-agent in peroxide vulcanization to increase modulus and heat resistance without compromising elasticity in demanding industrial environments.
In adhesives and sealants, it contributes to cohesive strength and dimensional stability under thermal cycling. Printing ink formulators incorporate it to achieve fast cure response.
The monomer provides improved abrasion resistance in packaging applications. TMPTMA is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid and is available in technical and industrial grades.
Inhibited versions containing polymerization inhibitors are available for storage stability. Bulk, IBC, and drum packaging are standard supply formats for industrial buyers and manufacturers.
