Description

Trimethylolmelamine (CAS 1017-56-7), also known commercially as Lyofix DM and Glazamine M, is a trifunctional melamine-formaldehyde resin intermediate used as a crosslinker and curing agent across textile, coatings, and polymer applications.

By reacting with hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amide groups, it builds durable network structures in finished goods. In textile finishing, it imparts crease resistance and dimensional stability to cellulosic fabrics.

It forms covalent bonds with cotton fibers under acid-catalyzed cure conditions. Coatings and adhesive formulators use it to crosslink alkyd, acrylic, and polyester resins, improving hardness and chemical resistance.

It also enhances film integrity in industrial and decorative systems. Paper and leather processors apply it as a wet-strength agent and surface binder, enhancing durability under moisture exposure.

In printing and packaging, it functions as a binder resin component where controlled rheology and adhesion to substrate are critical to print quality. Trimethylolmelamine is supplied as an aqueous solution.

Solids content is typically in the range of 70–80%, and less commonly as a dry powder for specific formulation requirements. Technical and industrial grades are the standard commercial offering.

Buyers should confirm methylol group content and free formaldehyde levels when evaluating grades for low-emission or regulated-end-use applications to ensure compliance with safety standards.
