Description

Diethylene glycol diacrylate (CAS 4074-88-8), also referred to commercially as oxydiethylene diacrylate, is a bifunctional acrylate monomer used as a reactive crosslinker and diluent in UV- and peroxide-curable systems. Its dual acrylate functionality enables rapid network formation, giving formulators control over cure speed, crosslink density, and final film hardness. In UV-curable coatings and inks, it acts as a reactive diluent.

This monomer reduces viscosity without introducing volatile organic compounds, while contributing to crosslink density in the cured film. Printing and packaging applications rely on it for fast-curing flexographic and screen inks. Adhesion and abrasion resistance are critical performance targets in these applications. In adhesive and sealant formulations, it builds cohesive strength by tying polymer chains into tighter networks during cure.

Polymer manufacturers also incorporate it as a crosslinking comonomer in acrylic resins and hydrogel matrices. This is particularly useful where controlled swelling behavior is a specific formulation requirement. The product is supplied as a clear liquid, typically inhibited with hydroquinone monomethyl ether to prevent premature polymerization during storage and transport. This ensures stability throughout the supply chain.

Technical and industrial grades are the standard market offering, with purity specifications commonly at 98% or higher. Packaging ranges from drums to IBC totes depending on the specific order volume required.
