Description

Sodium 2-naphthalenesulfonate (CAS 532-02-5) is an aromatic sulfonate salt used across dye manufacturing, dispersant formulation, and specialty chemical synthesis. It functions primarily as a dispersing agent and intermediate. This chemical enables stable suspension of pigments and active ingredients in aqueous systems. In textile processing, it improves dye bath uniformity by preventing pigment agglomeration on fiber surfaces.

This results in consistent color uptake across various materials. Coatings and ink manufacturers use it as a dispersant to stabilize pigment slurries, extending shelf life and improving flow characteristics. It serves as a key synthetic intermediate in the production of beta-naphthol derivatives. It is also used in sulfonated naphthalene-based superplasticizers for concrete admixtures in construction.

Water treatment formulators incorporate it for its surface-active properties. This supports emulsification in industrial effluent treatment processes and other environmental management systems. The product is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder. It is available in technical grade, which is the standard specification for industrial synthesis and dispersant applications.

Packaging typically ranges from 25 kg bags to bulk quantities. Purity levels are commonly at 98% or higher depending on the specific requirements of the intended industrial application.
