Sodium ascorbyl phosphate
Description
Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (CAS 66170-10-3), commonly abbreviated as SAP, is a stable, phosphorylated form of vitamin C used as an antioxidant and active ingredient across cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.
Unlike ascorbic acid, SAP resists oxidative degradation in aqueous formulations, making it a preferred choice for formulators requiring reliable shelf-stable vitamin C delivery in various products.
In topical skincare, SAP is incorporated into serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens to provide antioxidant protection and support skin brightening claims. Acne treatment formulations use SAP for its ability to inhibit sebum oxidation.
It appears in cleansers and toners targeting uneven skin tone. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a stabilized vitamin C source in oral and topical drug products where ascorbic acid stability would otherwise be a challenge.
It also functions as an antioxidant stabilizer in cosmetic emulsions, extending product shelf life by protecting other oxidation-sensitive actives. This ensures the final formulation remains effective throughout its use.
Sodium ascorbyl phosphate is supplied as a white to off-white powder. Standard grades include cosmetic-grade and pharmaceutical-grade material, with typical active content specifications around 95% or higher.
Bulk supply is available in kilogram and metric ton quantities to meet both development-scale and commercial production requirements. Our material meets rigorous quality standards for global distribution.
