Tin
Description
Tin (CAS 7440-31-5) is a base metal supplied in refined elemental form, used across metallurgy, chemical synthesis, and industrial manufacturing. It serves as a foundational raw material for producing alloys and inorganic tin compounds.
Procurement demand spans solder production, chemical manufacturing, and surface coating applications. In electronics and automotive manufacturing, tin is the primary constituent of lead-free solder alloys used in PCB assembly.
Tin compounds derived from the refined metal function as catalysts in polyurethane and silicone curing systems, making it a direct precursor for catalyst manufacturers. This metal is essential for high-performance industrial systems.
In plastics processing, tin-based stabilizers produced from elemental tin provide heat and UV resistance in PVC formulations. The metal also feeds into the production of tin oxide and organotin biocides used in coatings.
Refined tin is supplied as ingots, bars, granules, and shot, with purity levels typically ranging from 99.85% to 99.99%. Standard commercial grades conform to LME specifications for global trade.
Higher-purity electronic and chemical grades are available for sensitive synthesis applications. Packaging is offered in bulk metric-ton quantities as well as smaller lot sizes for laboratory and specialty chemical use.
