Ammonium lignosulfonate

Surfactants Water Treatment
CAS
8061-53-8

Description

Ammonium lignosulfonate (CAS 8061-53-8), also known as Peritan NH4, is a water-soluble anionic polymer derived from sulfite pulping of wood. It functions as a dispersant, chelating agent, and rheology modifier across a broad range of industrial processes.

In concrete and cement production, it acts as a plasticizer and water reducer, improving workability without compromising compressive strength. Agricultural formulators use it as a dispersant and binder in pesticide granules and suspension concentrates.

This ensures uniform particle distribution and field performance. In water treatment, it sequesters metal ions and disperses scale-forming minerals, reducing fouling in industrial systems. Leather and textile processors apply it as a dispersing agent.

It is used for dyes and tanning auxiliaries, improving penetration and color uniformity across substrates. This versatile chemical is supplied as a brown powder or as a concentrated aqueous solution, typically ranging from 40% to 50% solids content.

Technical grade is the standard commercial specification, with product performance characterized by lignosulfonate content, pH, and surface tension values relevant to the target application. Bulk quantities are available in bags or supersacks.

Liquid tanker shipments are also available depending on the form selected. This product meets rigorous industrial requirements for consistency and performance in demanding chemical environments. It remains a cost-effective solution for various manufacturing sectors.
