Description

Lignosulfonic acid (CAS 8062-15-5) is a sulfonated lignin derivative recovered as a byproduct of the sulfite pulping process. It functions as a dispersant, binder, and chelating agent across a broad range of industrial applications.

Its polyelectrolyte character enables precise control over particle suspension and rheology. In concrete and cement production, it acts as a water-reducing admixture, improving workability and compressive strength without increasing water content.

Agricultural formulators use it to disperse and stabilize pesticide and herbicide suspensions. This ensures uniform active ingredient distribution in spray applications, enhancing the overall efficacy of the chemical treatment in the field.

In water treatment, it supports flocculation of suspended solids and sequesters metal ions. These ions would otherwise interfere with treatment efficiency, making this compound essential for maintaining high standards in industrial water processing.

Textile and leather processors apply it as a dispersant for dyes and tanning agents. This improves penetration and uniformity across substrates, ensuring consistent color and texture in the final manufactured goods and materials.

The product is supplied primarily as a liquid solution, typically at concentrations ranging from 40% to 50% solids. Spray-dried powder forms are also available for applications requiring significantly lower moisture content for stability.

It is generally offered in technical grade, with specifications varying by source wood type and degree of sulfonation. Bulk liquid supply in IBC containers or tankers is standard for high-volume industrial buyers and chemical distributors.
