Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, calcium salts
Description
Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, calcium salts (CAS 84776-35-2), commercially known as Polyplastol 6, is a mixed calcium salt derived from tallow and vegetable-based fatty acid fractions.
It functions as a lubricant, plasticizer, and processing aid in polymer and rubber compounding, improving flow and release characteristics during high-temperature processing. In PVC compounding, it acts as an internal and external lubricant.
This additive reduces melt viscosity and prevents die buildup during extrusion and calendering of rigid and flexible profiles. Rubber processors incorporate it into tire and technical rubber formulations to improve batch homogeneity.
It facilitates mold release without compromising vulcanization. In building and construction materials, it is used in PVC window profiles, pipes, and cable compounds where consistent throughput and surface quality are critical.
It also functions as a rheology modifier in masterbatch and filled polymer systems, helping disperse mineral fillers such as calcium carbonate and talc more uniformly. This ensures high performance in industrial applications.
Supplied as a white to off-white powder or prilled solid, it is suitable for direct weighing and dry blending into polymer formulations. It is available in technical grade for various manufacturing needs.
Supply is typically in 25 kg bags or bulk packaging aligned with industrial compounding requirements. Specifications are generally aligned with performance benchmarks established for calcium soap lubricants.
