D-glucosamine sulfate
Description
D-glucosamine sulfate (CAS 14999-43-0) is an amino monosaccharide salt used primarily as an active pharmaceutical ingredient and nutraceutical compound. It is the sulfated form of glucosamine, recognized in dietary supplement markets under the abbreviation GS.
Commercially, it functions as a joint-support active in finished dosage forms and as a bioactive ingredient in functional food and cosmetic formulations. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, GS is the preferred active ingredient in oral solid dosage forms.
These tablets and capsules target joint health and cartilage support. Nutraceutical formulators use it in combination products alongside chondroitin sulfate or MSM for branded joint-care supplements to enhance efficacy.
In functional food and beverage development, it is incorporated into fortified products where a bioactive amino sugar is required. Personal care formulators apply it in topical skin-conditioning products for specific applications.
These amino sugar actives are specified for anti-aging or moisturizing claims in high-end cosmetic lines. D-glucosamine sulfate is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder for easy handling during production.
It is available in pharmaceutical-grade (USP, BP) and food-grade (FCC) specifications to meet regulatory requirements across different global markets and ensure high purity levels.
Stabilized potassium chloride (2KCl) and sodium chloride (NaCl) salt complexes are standard commercial forms. These are used to improve hygroscopic stability in finished formulations and extend the shelf life of the product.
