Desmorapid
Description
Desmorapid (CAS 15875-13-5), also supplied under the trade name Lupragen N 600, is a tertiary amine catalyst used to accelerate polyurethane cure reactions. It is formulated to drive both the blowing and gelling reactions in foam and elastomer systems.
This catalyst gives formulators precise control over the reaction profile and processing window. In flexible and rigid polyurethane foam production, it promotes the isocyanate-water reaction, enabling consistent cell structure and rise times.
Adhesive and sealant manufacturers use it to shorten open time and improve green strength in one- and two-component PU systems. In coatings, it supports crosslink density development in moisture-cure and two-pack urethane formulations.
These formulations are commonly applied to industrial substrates for enhanced durability. Industrial cleaning and surface treatment products incorporate it as a pH buffer and process aid where controlled alkalinity is required.
The product is supplied as a liquid, typically handled in drums and intermediate bulk containers suited to industrial-scale dosing. It is available in technical grade, the standard specification for polyurethane catalyst applications.
Buyers should confirm active content and amine value with the supplier to ensure batch-to-batch consistency in reactive systems. This ensures that the chemical performance remains stable across various manufacturing cycles and conditions.
