Disodium sebacate
Description
Disodium sebacate (CAS 17265-14-4), also known as sodium sebacate, is the disodium salt of sebacic acid used primarily as a corrosion inhibitor and lubrication additive in industrial fluid systems.
It provides effective metal surface protection in aqueous environments where long-term equipment integrity is a priority. In metalworking fluids and cutting oils, it protects ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces.
This protection occurs during machining operations, extending tool and workpiece service life. Automotive coolant and antifreeze formulations incorporate it as a carboxylate-based corrosion inhibitor to protect engine components.
These components include aluminum, steel, and cast iron parts. In oil and gas applications, it is used in water-based drilling fluids and pipeline treatment formulations where metal protection is required.
This is especially critical under high-salinity or high-temperature conditions. Industrial lubricant manufacturers also use it as a functional additive in rust-preventive coatings and hydraulic fluid concentrates.
The product is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder or granule. It is available in technical grade for industrial applications, with purity specifications typically ranging from 98% and above.
Packaging options generally include 25 kg bags or fiber drums, with bulk quantities available for large-scale industrial procurement. This ensures reliable supply chains for various manufacturing requirements.
