Orange Oil
Description
Orange Oil SS (CAS 2646-17-5), also known as Oil Orange SS, is an oil-soluble azo dye used to impart orange coloration to non-aqueous substrates and polymer matrices.
It is a synthetic colorant selected by formulators and industrial buyers for its solubility in organic media and strong color yield. In plastics and polymer processing, it is used to color polyethylene.
It is also utilized in polystyrene and PVC compounds where uniform dispersion in the melt phase is required. Printing ink manufacturers incorporate it into solvent-based formulations for packaging applications.
These applications are ideal where vivid orange tones are specified. Textile and leather finishers use it in solvent-based dyeing processes to achieve consistent surface coloration on treated materials.
Paper coatings and specialty paper products also rely on this dye where oil-based carrier systems are part of the coating formulation. Orange Oil SS is supplied as a fine powder or crystalline solid.
It is available in technical grade, with color strength and purity specifications typically confirmed against standard reference lots. Buyers should confirm lot-specific spectrophotometric data.
Solvent compatibility should also be verified when qualifying for a new formulation. This ensures the dye meets the rigorous demands of industrial chemical processing and material manufacturing.
