Description

Orange terpenes (CAS 68647-72-3), also marketed as citrus terpenes and sweet orange-oil terpenes, are the hydrocarbon-rich fraction recovered during cold-pressing or steam distillation of sweet orange peel.

In industry, they function as a bio-based solvent, natural flavoring agent, and degreasing ingredient across multiple sectors. In cleaning and degreasing formulations, they cut through oils and greases.

They are used in industrial degreasers, parts washers, and household cleaners as a renewable alternative to petroleum solvents. Printers and packaging manufacturers use them as press wash solvents to remove ink.

This allows for cleaning rollers and equipment without the regulatory burden of aromatic hydrocarbon solvents. In food and beverage production, they contribute citrus flavor and aroma to various goods.

They are commonly found in beverages, confectionery, and baked goods. Personal care formulators incorporate them into fragrances, shampoos, and skin-care products for their fresh citrus scent profile.

Orange terpenes are supplied as a mobile amber-to-pale-yellow liquid in drum, IBC, and bulk quantities. Food-grade material is available meeting FCC specifications for food safety.

Technical-grade is standard for solvent and cleaning applications. Purity levels and d-limonene content vary by origin and processing method, with high-purity grades exceeding 90% d-limonene.

These high-purity grades are commonly offered for demanding formulation work. The material remains a versatile and sustainable choice for modern industrial and consumer product manufacturing.
