Chrysoine resorcinol
Description
Chrysoine resorcinol (CAS 547-57-9), also known as C.I. Acid Orange 6 and formerly designated E103, is an acid azo dye that produces a yellow-orange hue across a range of industrial substrates.
It functions as a colorant in applications requiring strong affinity to protein and polyamide-based materials. In textile dyeing, it is applied to wool, silk, and nylon fabrics where acid dyes bond directly.
Under acidic bath conditions, the dye delivers consistent shade depth and color fastness. Leather finishing operations use it to achieve uniform orange tones on tanned hides, particularly in decorative and fashion leather goods.
In printing and packaging, it serves as a colorant in ink formulations designed for paper and board substrates. Specialty paper manufacturing also employs it for mass coloration during pulp processing or surface application.
Chrysoine resorcinol is supplied as a powder, typically as the sodium salt form. It is available in technical and dye-content-standardized grades, with specifications often expressed as percentage dye content by assay.
Packaging is commonly offered in fiber drums or multi-wall bags suited to industrial procurement volumes. This ensures safe handling and stability during transport and storage for large-scale manufacturing operations.
