Description

Sorbitan dioleate (CAS 29116-98-1) is a non-ionic emulsifier derived from sorbitol and oleic acid, positioned between the mono- and trioleate members of the sorbitan ester family.

It functions as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and moisturizing additive across personal care, food-adjacent, and industrial formulations. In personal care, it stabilizes water-in-oil emulsions.

This ingredient is used in creams and lotions while contributing skin-conditioning properties to the finished product. Food-contact and industrial lubricant formulations use it to control interfacial tension.

It is particularly effective where a mid-range HLB emulsifier is required. Textile and leather processing operations apply it as a fiber lubricant and surface wetting agent to improve processing.

This helps to ensure uniformity and reduce friction during manufacturing. In industrial cleaning concentrates, it supports emulsification of oils and greases into aqueous systems for better performance.

Sorbitan dioleate is supplied as an amber to yellow viscous liquid. It is available in technical and industrial grades, with purity specifications typically confirmed by rigorous laboratory testing.

Quality is verified by acid value, saponification value, and hydroxyl value testing. Packaging ranges from drums to IBC containers suited to bulk industrial procurement and global logistics.
