Sorbitan isostearate

Sorbitan isostearate (CAS 71902-01-7) is a non-ionic emulsifier derived from sorbitol and isostearic acid. Also marketed as sorbitan monoisostearate.

Where is Sorbitan isostearate used?

• Cosmetics and skin care: anchors water-in-oil emulsions in creams, sunscreens and color cosmetics
• Food: controls fat crystallization and improves texture in coatings and confectionery
• Industrial coatings and adhesives: dispersant and wetting agent for pigment distribution and substrate adhesion
• Textile processing: fiber lubricant and softening agent
• It functions as a lipophilic emulsifier and co-emulsifier.
