5-Bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane
Description
5-Bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane (CAS 30007-47-7), commercially known as Bronidox, is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial active used as a preservative in industrial and personal care formulations.
BND delivers effective biocidal performance against bacteria, yeasts, and molds at low use concentrations. In rinse-off personal care products such as shampoos and liquid soaps, it functions as a preservative.
Its activity is well-suited to aqueous, surfactant-rich systems. Coatings and adhesive formulations use BND to prevent microbial degradation during storage and in-can spoilage in various industrial environments.
Water treatment applications employ it as a biocide to control microbial growth in process and cooling water systems. This ensures the longevity and safety of the water systems during operation.
Sealant and elastomer manufacturers incorporate it into water-based formulations requiring preservative protection against bacterial and fungal contamination. This maintains the structural integrity of the final product.
5-Bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder. Technical and cosmetic-grade material is available, with cosmetic-grade product meeting purity specifications.
These specifications are aligned with industry preservative standards to ensure safety and efficacy. Packaging is offered in standard drum and bag quantities suited to industrial procurement volumes.
