Tribromoneopentyl alcohol
Description
Tribromoneopentyl alcohol (CAS 36483-57-5), commonly known as TBNPA, is a brominated aliphatic alcohol used as a reactive flame retardant intermediate. Unlike additive flame retardants, it chemically bonds into polymer matrices.
This chemical bonding delivers durable fire resistance that does not migrate or leach over time. In polyurethane foam and rigid foam systems, TBNPA is reacted directly into the polymer backbone to meet fire safety standards.
These applications are critical for construction insulation and furniture manufacturing. Textile and carpet backings incorporate it into coating formulations where permanent flame retardancy is required under commercial fire regulations.
Unsaturated polyester resins used in construction panels and composite materials rely on TBNPA to achieve halogen-based fire performance ratings. This ensures structural integrity and safety in high-risk environments.
Paper and leather finishing treatments also employ it where substrate-bound flame retardancy is specified by end-use safety requirements. It provides a reliable solution for specialized industrial coatings and finishes.
TBNPA is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline solid or powder. It is available in technical grade, which is the standard specification for industrial polymer and textile applications.
Bulk supply is typically offered in 25 kg bags or drums, with larger quantities available for industrial-scale procurement. Our logistics network ensures timely delivery for large-scale manufacturing needs.
