Polyoxyethylene tallowamine
Description
Polyoxyethylene tallowamine (CAS 61791-44-4), also known as ethoxylated tallowamine, is a fatty amine ethoxylate derived from tallow-based alkyl amines reacted with ethylene oxide.
It functions as a nonionic/cationic surfactant, providing emulsification, wetting, and surface conditioning across a broad range of industrial formulations for various sectors.
In agriculture, it acts as an adjuvant in herbicide formulations, most notably glyphosate-based products, improving foliar uptake and spray coverage on waxy leaf surfaces.
Textile and leather processors use it as a softening and antistatic agent, where its affinity for fiber surfaces reduces static buildup and improves handle during processing.
In industrial and institutional cleaning formulations, it contributes emulsification of oils and greases, particularly in hard-surface and metal cleaning concentrates for heavy duty use.
Coatings and adhesive formulators incorporate it as a wetting agent to improve substrate adhesion and pigment dispersion stability in various chemical systems and applications.
Polyoxyethylene tallowamine is supplied as a liquid or paste, depending on the degree of ethoxylation, with ethylene oxide content typically ranging from 2 to 20 moles.
The Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with specific EO-mole variants available to target HLB requirements. Drum and IBC packaging are standard for supply.
