Ethoxylated laurylamine
Description
Ethoxylated laurylamine (CAS 31017-83-1) is a nonionic amine-based surfactant built on a C12 fatty amine backbone with ethylene oxide chains. It functions primarily as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and dispersant.
This versatile chemical is utilized across textile, agricultural, and cleaning applications. In textile processing, it improves fiber wetting and dye bath penetration, helping achieve uniform coloration in dyeing operations.
Agricultural formulations use it as an emulsifier and adjuvant in herbicide and pesticide concentrates. Consistent droplet coverage on leaf surfaces directly affects the efficacy of these agricultural treatments.
Industrial and institutional cleaners incorporate it for its degreasing and soil-release performance on hard surfaces and metal parts. It is highly effective at removing stubborn oils and industrial residues.
Personal care and cosmetic formulators use it as an emulsification aid in conditioning systems. This is particularly useful where compatibility with cationic actives is a specific formulation requirement.
Ethoxylated laurylamine is supplied as a liquid or low-viscosity paste, depending on the degree of ethoxylation. Commercial grades vary by the number of ethylene oxide units, typically ranging from 2 to 15 moles EO.
The mole count determines the HLB value and specific application fit for the surfactant. Technical-grade material is the standard market offering, with specifications defined by active content, pH, and hydroxyl value.
