Polymethylhydrosiloxane
Description
Polymethylhydrosiloxane (CAS 63148-57-2), commonly abbreviated as PMHS, is a hydrogen-functional silicone polymer used across industrial and specialty chemical markets.
Its reactive Si-H groups make it a practical crosslinker, reducing agent, and surface treatment agent in formulations where durable hydrophobic performance is required.
In textile and leather finishing, PMHS delivers soft-hand effects and water-repellent coatings that withstand repeated washing cycles for high-performance materials.
Building and construction formulators use it to impregnate masonry, concrete, and stone surfaces, creating long-lasting moisture barriers without altering substrate appearance.
Personal care manufacturers incorporate PMHS as a conditioning and slip agent in hair and skin formulations where a lightweight, non-greasy feel is the target.
In lubricant and metalworking applications, it functions as an anti-foam additive and process aid, controlling foam in cutting fluids and industrial oil systems.
PMHS is supplied as a clear to slightly hazy liquid, with viscosity grades ranging from low to medium to suit different coating and formulation processes.
It is available in technical grade, which covers the majority of industrial applications across construction, textiles, and lubricants for global buyers.
