Polyglyceryl diisostearate
Description
Polyglyceryl diisostearate (CAS 63705-03-3), also marketed as Dehymuls B and Polyglycerol diisostearate, is a polyglycerol ester of isostearic acid used as a lipophilic emulsifier and rheology modifier.
It stabilizes water-in-oil emulsions and controls texture across cosmetic, food, and industrial formulations. In skin care and color cosmetics, it functions as the primary emulsifier in W/O creams and foundations.
It is also utilized in sunscreens, delivering stable emulsions with a smooth, non-greasy skin feel. Lip care and color formulations rely on it for its ability to disperse pigments uniformly while maintaining product consistency.
In food applications, it acts as an emulsifier and dispersing agent in fat-based systems such as chocolate coatings and compound confectionery. This ensures a smooth texture and prevents separation in various food products.
Coatings and adhesive formulations use it to improve dispersion of solid components and adjust flow behavior in oil-continuous systems. This versatility makes it a valuable additive for industrial manufacturing processes.
Polyglyceryl diisostearate is supplied as a viscous liquid or paste at ambient temperature. Food-grade and cosmetic-grade specifications are the most commonly available for global distribution and manufacturing.
Cosmetic grades typically meeting requirements for use in regulated personal care markets are standard. Packaging ranges from drums to intermediate bulk containers depending on specific volume requirements for the client.
