Cottonseed fatty acids
Description
Cottonseed fatty acids (CAS 68308-51-0), also marketed as Emery Vegetable Fatty Acid 600, are a mixed-chain fatty acid blend derived from refined cottonseed oil. They function as surface-active intermediates and lubricating agents across a range of industrial manufacturing processes.
In coatings and alkyd resin production, cottonseed fatty acids serve as reactive raw materials that contribute drying characteristics and film flexibility to finished coatings. Textile and leather processors use them as fiber lubricants and softening agents.
These fatty acids improve handle and reduce friction during mechanical processing. In metalworking fluids and rolling oils, they provide boundary lubrication under moderate load conditions, reducing tool wear and surface defects during production.
Rubber compounders incorporate them as processing aids and internal lubricants to improve flow and mold release during vulcanization. This ensures a more efficient manufacturing cycle and higher quality finished rubber components.
Cottonseed fatty acids are supplied as an amber to yellow liquid at ambient temperatures. Standard commercial grades are available to technical specifications, with quality parameters typically covering acid value, iodine value, color, and moisture content.
Supply is available in drum and bulk quantities, with consistency tied to cottonseed oil crop cycles and regional sourcing. Our products are manufactured to meet rigorous industrial requirements and maintain high performance standards.
