Description

Lanolin fatty acids (CAS 68424-43-1), also marketed as Skliro and Skliro Distilled, are a complex mixture of free fatty acids derived from wool grease through saponification and distillation.

They function as emulsifiers, moisturizers, and lubricants across personal care, pharmaceutical, and industrial manufacturing applications. In cosmetic formulations, they contribute emulsification and skin-conditioning performance.

These acids are used in creams, lotions, and lip products where substantive moisturization is required. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use them as excipients in topical ointments and barrier preparations.

Their compatibility with skin lipids supports formulation stability. In textile processing and leather finishing, they act as fiber lubricants and softening agents, reducing friction during mechanical processing.

They improve the handle in finished goods. Coatings and adhesive formulators incorporate them as dispersing and wetting agents to improve pigment distribution and substrate adhesion.

Lanolin fatty acids are supplied as a pale yellow to amber waxy solid or semi-solid, typically in flake, pastille, or block form. Standard grades include cosmetic-grade and pharmaceutical-grade material.

These materials meet BP or Ph. Eur. specifications, as well as technical-grade for industrial applications. Saponified lanolin fatty acid is available as a distinct processed form.

This form is suited to specific emulsification requirements in personal care and textile end uses. The material provides consistent performance across a wide range of specialized chemical applications.
