Description

Acetylated lanolin (CAS 91053-41-7) is a modified wool wax derivative produced by acetylating natural lanolin to reduce its tackiness and improve its compatibility with a broader range of formulation bases.

Unlike standard lanolin, it delivers moisturizing and emulsification performance with a lighter, less greasy skin feel. This characteristic serves as a key differentiator for cosmetic formulators seeking high performance.

In personal care, it functions as an emollient and humectant in lip balms, skin creams, and hair conditioners where a non-tacky, smooth texture is required for the end user experience.

Coatings and industrial lubricant formulators use it as a rheology modifier to adjust viscosity. It also improves film-forming characteristics on metal and substrate surfaces in various industrial settings.

In adhesive and sealant systems, it contributes to flexibility and substrate wetting without compromising bond integrity. It also serves as an emulsifier in water-in-oil formulations for stability.

This material is often preferred where conventional lanolin would introduce unwanted stickiness. Acetylated lanolin is supplied as a pale yellow to amber semi-solid or soft wax for easy handling.

The product is typically packaged in drums or pails for bulk industrial use. Cosmetic-grade material conforming to standard purity specifications is the most common commercial form available today.

Technical-grade variants are available for industrial coatings and adhesive applications. These are used where specific cosmetic-grade certification is not required for the final manufacturing process.
