Lanolin alcohol

Lanolin alcohol (CAS 8027-33-6), also sold under trade names such as Dusoran and Dusoline, is a complex mixture of sterols and aliphatic alcohols derived from wool wax. In cosmetics, lanolin alcohol stabilizes water-in-oil emulsions in creams, lotions, and ointment bases, while contributing moisturization that supports skin barrier function. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as an emulsifying and absorption-enhancing excipient in topical preparations.
