Overbased calcium sulfonate

Overbased calcium sulfonate (CAS 68783-96-0), also referred to as OBCS or sulfonic acids petroleum calcium salts overbased, is a high-basicity additive for lubricant and metalworking fluid formulations.

Where is Overbased calcium sulfonate used?

• Engine and gear oils: detergent additive dispersing soot and oxidation deposits while maintaining TBN reserves
• Metalworking fluids: corrosion inhibition and emulsification of oil-water systems in cutting and rolling oils
• Greases: thickener and corrosion inhibitor for marine and heavy-duty industrial greases
• Rust preventive coatings and preservation oils: long-term film protection against humidity and salt exposure
• Its reserve alkalinity neutralizes acidic combustion and oxidation byproducts, extending oil service life and protecting metal surfaces from corrosive attack.
