Tung oil

Tung oil (CAS 8001-20-5), also traded as China wood oil, is a fast-drying, highly cross-linkable drying oil pressed from the seeds of the Vernicia fordii tree. It polymerizes on exposure to air to form a hard, water-resistant film.

This unique chemical property makes it a preferred binder and curing agent across protective coating and industrial finishing systems. In architectural and industrial coatings, it functions as a film-forming binder that delivers moisture resistance.

It provides exceptional surface hardness in wood finishes, deck sealers, and marine varnishes. Adhesive and sealant formulators incorporate it as a reactive component to improve flexibility and bonding durability in oil-based systems.
