Candlenut oil
Description
Candlenut oil (CAS 8015-80-3), also known commercially as kukui nut oil, is a lightweight plant-derived oil pressed from the seeds of Aleurites moluccana. Historically significant in Hawaiian and Pacific Island traditions, it is now sourced for its rapid skin absorption.
This oil provides excellent emollient performance across personal care and industrial formulations. In cosmetics and skincare, it is incorporated into facial serums, body lotions, and hair conditioners where fast-absorbing, non-greasy moisturization is the target.
Its high unsaturated fatty acid content supports use in after-sun products, massage oils, and barrier creams aimed at dry or compromised skin. In coatings and wood finishing, it functions as a drying oil component for various surface treatments.
The oil contributes flexibility and penetration in varnishes and specialized industrial coatings. Belgaum walnut oil also appears in specialty lubricant formulations where a bio-based, skin-compatible carrier is required for specific technical applications.
The product is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid, typically in bulk drums or intermediate bulk containers suited to procurement volumes. Cold-pressed and refined grades are both available to meet diverse manufacturing requirements.
Refined variants offer improved color stability and extended shelf life for complex formulation use. Cosmetic-grade material is the most commercially prevalent specification for buyers in the personal care and beauty sectors.
