Almond oil
Description
Almond oil (CAS 8007-69-0), commonly sourced and traded as sweet almond oil, is a fixed vegetable oil cold-pressed or refined from the kernels of Prunus amygdalus. It functions as an emollient, carrier, and lubricant across personal care, food, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
In cosmetics and skincare, it serves as a base oil in lotions, massage oils, lip balms, and hair care products, where its skin-conditioning profile supports emollient formulations. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a carrier for injectable preparations.
It is also utilized in topical ointments and softgel capsule fill oils. In food production, it appears in specialty culinary oils, confectionery coatings, and flavoring preparations where a mild, neutral fat is required for the final product.
Coatings and sealant formulators incorporate it as a plasticizing or lubricating component in natural or low-VOC systems. Almond oil is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid in drum, IBC, and bulk quantities for industrial use.
Standard grades include food-grade, USP/BP, and cosmetic-grade, with refined and unrefined variants available depending on application requirements. Refined grades are typically specified for pharmaceutical use.
Cold-pressed virgin oil is preferred in premium personal care and food applications. This versatile oil meets various international quality standards including Ph.Eur., EP, and FCC requirements for global distribution and manufacturing.
