Sunflower oil
Description
Sunflower oil (CAS 8001-21-6), pressed from the seeds of Helianthus annuus, is a light vegetable oil used across food manufacturing, personal care formulation, and industrial processing.
Its high linoleic or oleic content determines suitability for specific end applications, making grade selection a key procurement decision for manufacturers and chemical distributors alike.
In food production, it functions as a frying medium, salad oil base, and carrier for fat-soluble ingredients in dressings, margarines, and bakery products. It is a versatile ingredient for large-scale kitchens.
Personal care manufacturers use it as an emollient and skin-conditioning base in lotions, creams, and hair care formulations. It supports spreadability and moisture retention without leaving a heavy residue on the skin.
Industrial coatings and alkyd resin producers rely on high-oleic variants for improved oxidative stability in drying oil formulations. It also serves as a bio-based lubricant component and release agent.
Sunflower oil is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid in bulk tankers, IBCs, and drums. Standard grades include refined, bleached, and deodorized for food and cosmetic use, as well as crude variants.
Food-grade material is available to FCC and edible oil specifications. High-oleic grades are offered separately for applications requiring enhanced stability and longer shelf life in various environments.
