Rapeseed oil

Rapeseed oil (CAS 8002-13-9), also known as rape oil, is a vegetable oil pressed or extracted from the seeds of Brassica napus and related species.

Where is Rapeseed oil used?

• Food manufacturing: cooking and frying medium, carrier oil in flavor systems, base for margarine and shortening
• Personal care: emollient and spreading agent in skin creams, hair conditioners and lip products
• Industrial: base fluid in metalworking lubricants, hydraulic fluids and release agents, where its natural lubricity reduces friction and tool wear
• Rubber and tire compounding: process oil and softener that improves workability during mixing
• It also functions as a base oil, plasticizer and lubricant.

Commercial specifications

• Refined, bleached and deodorized (RBD) variants are the most commonly traded forms.
• Bulk tankers, IBCs and drums.
