Corn oil

Corn oil (CAS 8001-30-7), also commercially known as maize oil, is a refined vegetable oil pressed from the germ of corn kernels. It functions as an edible carrier, emollient base, and industrial lubricant across food manufacturing, personal care, and metalworking sectors.

In food production, it serves as a frying and cooking medium in snack foods, margarines, and salad dressings, where its high smoke point supports high-temperature processing. Personal care formulators incorporate it into skin creams, hair conditioners, and massage oils.

As a carrier that improves spreadability and skin feel, it is highly valued in cosmetic applications. In industrial settings, corn oil acts as a base fluid and lubricant in metalworking formulations, including cutting fluids and release agents.

It also functions as a solvent and carrier for fat-soluble active ingredients in nutritional supplements and pharmaceutical soft-gel capsules. This versatility makes it a staple ingredient for manufacturers requiring a stable and cost-effective lipid source.

Corn oil is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid in bulk containers, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), and drums. Standard grades include refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) for food and cosmetic applications.

The food-grade product meets FCC specifications to ensure safety and purity for human consumption. Crude and expeller-pressed variants are also available for industrial or further-processing applications depending on the specific technical requirements.
