Peanut oil
Description
Peanut oil (CAS 8002-03-7), also known as arachis oil and groundnut oil, is a fixed vegetable oil pressed or extracted from Arachis hypogaea seeds. It functions as a carrier, lubricant, and emollient across food manufacturing, personal care, and industrial processing.
In food production, it is used as a frying and cooking medium in snack foods, sauces, and ready meals, where its high smoke point supports commercial deep-frying operations. Personal care formulators incorporate it as a skin-conditioning carrier in creams, massage oils, and hair treatments.
Industrial buyers source it as a base fluid for metalworking lubricants and release agents, where its film-forming properties reduce friction on metal surfaces. In coatings and alkyd resin production, it serves as a semi-drying oil component contributing to film flexibility.
Peanut oil is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid in bulk, intermediate bulk containers, and drums. Food-grade and refined grades meeting FCC and BP/Ph.Eur. specifications are available for pharmaceutical and food applications.
Cold-pressed and refined variants are both commercially stocked, with refined grades being the standard for industrial and cosmetic use. This versatile oil provides consistent performance across diverse manufacturing sectors and specialized chemical applications.
