Description

Hydrogenated peanut oil (CAS 68425-36-5), also known as groundnut oil hydrogenated, is produced by catalytic hydrogenation of refined peanut oil to raise its melting point and extend shelf stability.

The process converts the liquid oil into a semi-solid or solid fat, making it suitable for applications that require controlled texture, oxidative stability, and resistance to rancidity.

In food manufacturing, it functions as a structuring fat in shortenings, confectionery coatings, and filled chocolate products where a defined melting profile is critical for the final product.

Personal care formulators incorporate it into lip balms, skin creams, and hair conditioners as an emollient and occlusive agent that supports moisture retention without the handling challenges of liquid oils.

In coatings and adhesive formulations, the solid fat phase contributes to film consistency and acts as a processing aid or release agent. It also serves as a base component in ointment-type topical preparations.

Hydrogenated peanut oil is supplied as white to off-white solid flakes, pastilles, or blocks depending on the degree of hydrogenation. Food-grade material is available to FCC and BP specifications.

Cosmetic-grade supply meets requirements for personal care applications. Fully and partially hydrogenated variants are both commercially available, with iodine value used as the key specification to differentiate grades.
