Hydrogenated coconut oil
Description
Hydrogenated coconut oil (CAS 84836-98-6), also known as hardened copra oil, is a fully or partially saturated fat produced by hydrogenating natural coconut oil to raise its melting point and extend shelf stability.
It functions as a solid carrier, emollient, and structuring agent across food, cosmetic, and industrial applications. In food manufacturing, it provides a stable, non-greasy fat base for confectionery coatings.
This material is essential for shortenings and filled chocolate products where controlled melting behavior is critical. Cosmetic formulators use it to build body in stick products, balms, and solid emulsions.
Its smooth skin feel and oxidative stability reduce the need for additional antioxidants in personal care. Industrial lubricant producers incorporate it into solid and semi-solid lubricant formulations for metal processing.
It is also used in release agent applications. In adhesives and coatings, it acts as a plasticizing component and processing aid where a saturated, low-odor fat base is preferred over unsaturated alternatives.
The product is supplied as white to off-white solid flakes, pastilles, or blocks. Food-grade material is available to FCC and Codex specifications, while cosmetic-grade product is supplied to meet standard purity requirements.
Technical grade is also available for industrial lubricant and coating applications. This versatile fat ensures consistency and performance across a wide range of professional manufacturing sectors.
