Description

Hydrogenated jojoba oil (CAS 92457-12-0), also marketed under the botanical extract designation Jojoba, ext., hydrogenated, is produced by the catalytic hydrogenation of cold-pressed jojoba wax esters.

This process converts the liquid oil into a firm, stable solid. It functions primarily as an emollient wax, rheology modifier, and lubricant across personal care and industrial formulations.

In cosmetics, it is used to structure lip balms, solid lotions, and stick formulations where a clean-melting, skin-compatible wax base is required for the final product.

Hair care formulators incorporate it into conditioning treatments and pomades to deliver controlled slip and moisture retention without the heaviness of animal-derived waxes or synthetic alternatives.

In lubricants and metalworking fluids, its ester-based composition supports load-bearing performance and oxidative stability in specialty grease and release agent applications for industrial use.

Coatings and adhesive formulators use it as a rheology modifier to adjust viscosity and improve substrate wetting in wax-based systems, ensuring consistent application and performance.

Hydrogenated jojoba oil is supplied as a white to off-white solid wax, typically in flake, pastille, or block form. Cosmetic-grade material is the dominant commercial specification.

Suppliers commonly offer certifications aligned with ISO 16128 natural origin standards and organic-certified variants. Technical grade is available for industrial lubricant and coating applications.
