Carnauba wax

Carnauba wax (CAS 8015-86-9), also known as Brazil wax and approved as E903, is a natural vegetable wax harvested from the leaves of the Copernicia prunifera palm.

Where is Carnauba wax used?

• Food manufacturing: surface coating on confectionery, fruits, and pharmaceutical tablets
• Personal care: structure and gloss in lip products, mascaras, and solid pomades
• Printing inks and coatings: carnauba wax dispersions improve scuff resistance and reduce friction
• Industrial: mold release agent, floor polishes, and automotive waxes
• Adhesive formulations: modifies surface slip and hardness
• It delivers hard, high-gloss surface finishes and acts as a release agent.

Good to know: Grades T1, T3, and T4 reflect color and refinement level, with T1 being the lightest and most refined. Food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade material is available to FCC and BP specifications.
