C12-15 alkyl lactate
Description
C12-15 Alkyl Lactate (CAS 93925-36-1), also known as Lauryl Lactate, is an ester of lactic acid and C12–C15 fatty alcohols used as an emollient solvent and carrier in personal care formulations.
It improves the spreadability and skin feel of topical products without the heaviness associated with conventional oils. In leave-on skin care, including lotions and serums, it functions as a lightweight emollient.
This ingredient enhances active ingredient delivery while maintaining a dry, non-greasy finish. Color cosmetics such as foundations and lip products use it as a solvent to dissolve pigments and oil-soluble actives.
It improves pigment dispersion and payoff in various makeup applications. It is also used in hair care formulations, including styling products and conditioners, where it aids in spreading and reduces residue.
Fragrance and deodorant formulations incorporate it as a carrier solvent that improves product aesthetics. It ensures compatibility with other lipophilic ingredients while maintaining a high level of performance.
This chemical is supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid. It is available in cosmetic-grade specification, the standard for personal care applications, and is recognized under FEMA 4482.
Packaging typically ranges from drums to IBCs to suit both development-scale and commercial production volumes. This versatility makes it an ideal choice for manufacturers across the global beauty industry.
